Obscurish album recommendations:
k uh The Orion Experience and uh The Necromancin Dancin band and uh idk Will Wood and Tally Hall I guess.
Uh lately let's see I've been listening to Themata and Sound Awake by Karnivool they're good. Frickin' Change Part 1 is a real blueball and Change 2 doesn't resolve it. Roquefort with Empire Horns is so good.
Also Steel by Battle Beast and Demons of the AstroWaste from Unleash the Archers. Rock. Not exactly metal.
Bit of Black Keys, too, they have some good songs.
[obligatory Tool recommendation]
Check out Undertow, Aenema, Lateralus and 10 000 Days. IMO Lateralus >= Aenema > 10 000 Days > Undertow.
Particular songs to check out: Prison Sex, Forty Six & 2, Parabol/Parabola, The Pot
Similarly, A Perfect Circle are good. Check out Eat the Elephant. Many good songs at the start.
Particular song to check out: Disillusioned
Battle Tapes: Polygon
'Alternative'. Seems similarish to Justice, though a bit rougher. Uses some electronic voices throughout. Start with 'Belgrade', try 'Solid Gold', if you like those you'll probably like the album.
Texture by Battle Tapes also sounds similar.
Kero Kero Bonito: Bonito Generation
Just happy poppy music. Has some Japanese lyrics. Might help with bad mood.
Particular song to check out: Trampoline
Gloryhammer: Return to the Kingdom of Fife
I think this is power metal? Real energetic. Whole album follows a plot but is frickin stupid. Can get you pumped up though.
Particular song: Holy Flaming Hammer of Unholy Cosmic Frost
Oingo Boingo: Dead Man's Party
Fun bouncy Halloweeny music. Danny Elfman.
Paricular Song: Dead Man's Party
Troika: The Same Dream
Rock, bit similar to Tool. Not as extreme in shifting energy. Bit enigmatic. Clearly high effort.
Particular Song: Ouroboros
Royal Blood: Typhoons
Rock. Beautiful bassline. Love listening to them.
Love the transition from Mad Visions to Hold On.
Particular Song: Typhoons
Lucid Planet: Lucid Planet, II
Rock. Tool-like. More tribal. Bit psychedelic.
Particular Song: Offer (on II)
Sweet Trip: You Will Never Know Why
Peaceful. Slightly melancholic. Male and female singer good together. Light rock.
Particular Song: Darkness
Alvvays: Antisocialites
Also peaceful, light rock.
Particular Song: Plimsoll Punks
The Protomen: Act II: The Father of Death
Prequel to their first album. Rock. Tells a story about a world falling under totalitarian rule. Somewhat electronica.
Particular Song: Light Up the Night
If you like any of these, check out the rest of the album!
